Protecting Children and Victims

Recently a man was charged with Kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 15 year old girl in Pocatello. At his initial bond hearing he was released from jail without bond. How does that happen? It happens because the current Bannock County Prosecutor’s Office doesn’t even show up to those hearings. There is always a public defender there to argue for release, but no one on the other side advocating for the safety of the victim or community.

As a mother of a high school student and as a survivor of violence myself, it is time to elect a Bannock County Prosecutor who is willing to fight for the rights of survivors and the safety of our community. The office needs reform and with my background in social work and advocacy, I believe I can bring positive changes to the office.

This election represents a pivotal opportunity for us to redefine the role of justice in our community. The outcomes of this election will directly impact our daily lives, our sense of security, and our trust in the justice system. It is crucial that we elect a prosecutor who is committed to genuine reform, thoughtful oversight, and a deeper respect for the voices of victims. I am seeking the office of the local prosecutor to bring about these essential changes, and to ensure that our community is both safe and just for all its members.

My platform is built on prioritizing violent crimes and those against vulnerable victims, focusing our resources where they are needed most to protect our community from serious offenses, rather than diverting attention to petty crimes. Survivor advocacy is a cornerstone of my campaign.

Survivors are often poorly prepared for testimony, uninformed about plea negotiations, and revictimized by the system. As prosecutor, I will ensure that survivors are supported and included in all aspects of the justice process. I have been advocating for the rights of survivors and children since 2007. Including, being a social worker for Idaho Health and Welfare, volunteering with the Family Service Alliance, and most recently representing survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault at Idaho Legal Aid.

As a dedicated public servant to Bannock County for decades, I understand and share the community's frustrations when sex offenders and violent criminals receive minimal punishments that do not reflect the severity of their crimes.
